Firstsitenews-The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially begun the rescheduling process for 379,997 candidates whose Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) were affected by technical issues.
The development follows a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who acknowledged that errors had disrupted the exams for thousands of candidates across Lagos and the South-East region.
According to Oloyede, a total of 206,610 candidates were affected in 65 centres across Lagos, while 173,387 candidates from 92 centres in the Owerri zone — covering the five South-East states — were also impacted.
“The affected candidates will begin receiving text messages regarding their rescheduled exams starting tomorrow,” he said. “I sincerely apologise and take full responsibility for the situation.”
As of Thursday morning, the rescheduling process was already underway. In one instance observed by our correspondent, a candidate’s reprinted exam slip indicated a new exam date — Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12 noon — at a centre located in the Igando area of Alimosho Local Government in Lagos State.
