Just In: David Mark Set to Lead Anti-Tinubu Coalition as Opposition Adopts ADC Platform

Firstsitenews-Barring any last-minute changes, a powerful opposition coalition is poised to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its unified political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections with former Senate President David Mark tipped to emerge as Interim National Chairman.

Credible sources confirmed that top opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 flagbearer Peter Obi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, have reached a consensus on the party’s direction.

While the post of National Secretary remains unresolved after ex-Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Senator Ben Obi declined the role insiders say a consensus will be reached soon. The coalition’s official unveiling is expected later this week following final consultations by Peter Obi with key allies.

One source disclosed: “We’ve all agreed that ADC is our party going forward. David Mark has accepted to lead as interim chairman. Only the secretary position remains, and discussions are ongoing.”

The coalition move follows widespread dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, as key opposition parties PDP, LP, NNPP, and SDP battle internal divisions.

Insiders revealed the SDP was initially considered but rejected due to the influence of Tinubu loyalists within its ranks.

Meanwhile, ADC’s current National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, has endorsed the transition and expressed readiness to step down for Mark. “I am aware of the development. We are committed to rescuing Nigeria from the failed APC,” he told Sunday PUNCH.

As the 2027 election approaches, this strategic realignment may dramatically reshape Nigeria’s political landscape, setting the stage for a fierce battle at the polls.
