In an interview with Brila.net on Tuesday, Obodo noted that Osimhen’s substantial release clause and wage demands have deterred top European clubs from making a move for the Napoli striker.

“I believe Osimhen still wants to play at the highest level in Europe and achieve more in his career, but the release clause Napoli placed on him, along with his salary expectations, is making clubs hesitant. No club wants to make a move they might later regret,” Obodo said.

Obodo also criticized the way Nigerian footballers are often undervalued compared to players from other regions.

“If Osimhen were Brazilian, top European clubs would have signed him already. Nigeria doesn’t promote or package its players well, and even some Nigerians speak negatively about their own,” he added.

The former Serie A midfielder emphasized the importance of Osimhen making a well-thought-out choice.

“In my view, Osimhen must be willing to compromise—either by staying in Europe for the football or going to a club like Al Hilal for the financial reward. Whatever he decides, we can only hope he doesn’t make the wrong choice,” Obodo concluded.
