Firstsitenews- Popular Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, has opened up about a major turning point in his career how missing out on a spot in the Big Brother Africa reality show unexpectedly led him to his first major acting role.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Culture League podcast, Timini shared that he had advanced to the final stages of selection for Big Brother Africa and was among five finalists asked to pack their bags in anticipation of entering the house. However, in a surprising twist, he was ultimately dropped from the show.
Despite the disappointment, the actor described the missed opportunity as a blessing in disguise. That same year, he was cast in the groundbreaking MTV series Shuga Naija — a role he credits as the true launchpad for his successful acting career.
“I’ve come to realize that not every missed opportunity is a loss,” Timini said. “At the time, I really thought Big Brother Africa was the big break I needed. I even hired someone to manage my social media while I was in the house. But I wasn’t picked.”
Looking back, he sees things differently. “If I had made it into the Big Brother house, who knows where I’d be today? Maybe the hype would’ve faded. But instead, I got the role in MTV Shuga, and that changed everything. That was the true beginning of my journey as an actor.”
Timini emphasized that such setbacks often carry hidden opportunities. “Some opportunities you think you want so badly might actually derail you. I believe I am exactly where God wants me to be. So now, when I lose out on something, I see it as a chance for something better. I dust myself off and keep moving.”
His story serves as a reminder that delayed dreams can often lead to bigger destinies.
