Firstsitenews-Former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, alongside Labour Party’s presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi, have arrived in Abuja to attend the National Political Consultative Group (North) meeting.
Atiku shared news of their arrival on X (formerly Twitter), posting a video that captured the moment he and Obi exchanged greetings with key political figures ahead of the event.
“Peter Obi and I just arrived at the Abuja Continental Hotel for the National Political Consultative Group (North) event. -AA,” the caption read.
In a 33-minute video seen by our correspondent, Peter Obi addressed attendees, speaking on Nigeria’s economic challenges. He emphasized that widespread poverty continues to impede industrial development across the country.
Though the full agenda and objectives of the Consultative Group remain somewhat undefined, it is widely believed to be a platform for northern political stakeholders to strategize ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The meeting has attracted numerous high-profile political actors, party leaders, and elder statesmen, fueling speculations about a potential opposition coalition in the buildup to the next general elections.
Among the notable attendees were Rotimi Amaechi, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Adolphus Wabara, and Baba Chir Lawal.
