Firstsitenews-The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that it will commence the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and diesel starting August 15, 2025.
To support the large-scale rollout, the company is deploying 4,000 newly acquired Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers, aimed at expanding delivery capacity and ensuring widespread fuel availability across Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Dangote Refinery revealed that the offer is open to fuel marketers, petrol station operators, manufacturers, telecommunications companies, aviation firms, and other major fuel consumers.
Additionally, the company unveiled plans to bolster fuel distribution through the establishment of daughter booster CNG stations and a dedicated fleet of more than 100 gas-powered tankers.
The logistics initiative, which includes free delivery of petroleum products, is aimed at easing supply bottlenecks and reducing operational costs in key sectors of the economy.
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery is excited to announce a landmark national initiative designed to revolutionise fuel distribution in Nigeria.
“Beginning August 15, 2025, the refinery will supply Premium Motor Spirit and diesel to fuel marketers, station owners, manufacturers, telecom operators, aviation, and other high-volume consumers nationwide, with free logistics support to strengthen the delivery network.
“This initiative forms part of our broader vision to eliminate logistics constraints, improve energy access, drive sustainability, and contribute to national economic growth,” the statement read.
This development follows a recent announcement by Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, hinting at a forthcoming “major shakedown” in Nigeria’s downstream sector. He clarified that the upcoming transformation is not centered on price reduction but rather a total overhaul of the industry.
Dangote made the remarks during a media chat after President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the $20 billion refinery located in Lekki, Lagos.
The refinery’s logistics initiative also comes as tanker drivers in Lagos threaten to halt fuel loading operations on Monday, citing their inability to afford the N12,500 E-Call Up fee on the Lekki-Epe corridor.
As part of the broader initiative, Dangote Refinery is introducing a credit scheme for bulk buyers purchasing 500,000 litres and above. The scheme is expected to reactivate dormant filling stations, ease inflationary pressures, empower small businesses, and support the Tinubu administration’s economic reform agenda.
