Firstsitenews-The Edo State Government has entered into a strategic partnership with the German Embassy to enhance agricultural development in the state.
Golden Ugbodu, Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Security to Governor Monday Okpebholo, disclosed this on Friday, noting that the collaboration will focus on deploying industrial machinery for large-scale farming and processing, attracting German investors, and boosting export-oriented agribusiness.
Ugbodu explained that the agreement was reached during a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Johannes Lehne.
“This partnership aligns with Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to achieving food security and promoting sustainable agriculture across Edo State,” he stated.
“We aim to leverage Germany’s expertise, especially in mechanized farming and value-chain processing. We are also facilitating German investment in Edo’s agribusiness sector, covering production, processing, and export.”
Also present at the meeting were Dr. Karin Jansen, First Secretary/Head of Cooperation at the German Embassy; the Programme Manager of GIZ–Skills Development for Youth Employment (SKYE); and Mr. Emmanuel Sule, Personal Assistant to the Special Adviser on Agriculture and Food Security.
