The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a new directive to its global membership, outlining three core priorities aimed at advancing its campaign and securing the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Strategic Realignment
In a statement released Tuesday and signed by spokesperson Emma Powerful, the group called for what it described as “uncompromising focus,” urging members to align strictly with its defined objectives and avoid distractions.
IPOB claimed it has resisted repeated attempts by alleged infiltrators to destabilize its structure, accusing external actors of pursuing a long-standing agenda to weaken the movement.
Allegations of Internal Disruption
The group further alleged that similar strategies had previously been used to fragment the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), but maintained that IPOB has remained resilient.
It also warned against internal power struggles, stating that individuals attempting to take advantage of Kanu’s detention to assume leadership positions would not be tolerated.

IPOB outlined three primary areas of focus for its members worldwide:
Intensifying global campaigns and rallies calling for Kanu’s unconditional release
Expanding diplomatic outreach across international platforms to promote its cause
Organizing activities for the upcoming Heroes Remembrance Day May 30 2026
The directive, which took immediate effect, emphasized strict compliance, warning that any activities or communications outside these priorities would be considered counterproductive.
Enforcement and Compliance
The group stated that discussions, social media engagement, or initiatives not aligned with its objectives would be disregarded, adding that members unwilling to comply are free to disengage and form separate entities.
Reaffirmation of Position
IPOB concluded by reaffirming its loyalty to Kanu and reiterating its commitment to what it described as the restoration of Biafra.
The latest directive signals a tightening of internal strategy as the group intensifies its advocacy efforts on both domestic and international fronts.
