Stakeholders from the Enugu North Senatorial District, commonly known as Nsukka Zone, have praised Governor Peter Mbah for his inclusive leadership and urged him to stay the course, which they said is widely appreciated by Nigerians.
Speaking during the inaugural edition of the “Dialogue Series 1” at Adada House, Nsukka, the stakeholders highlighted the governor’s developmental strides across various sectors, especially the successful implementation of projects in each of the 102 wards within the senatorial zone. The event was organized by the Enugu State Coalition for Progress, Enugu North Senatorial Zone Branch, to assess the impact of Governor Mbah’s administration in its first two years, with the theme: Dr. Peter Mbah Administration – The Journey So Far (Education, Politics, and Security). It also served as a platform for residents to present their unique challenges to the governor.
Professor Osita Ogbu, former Economic Adviser to the President, commended Governor Mbah for transitioning Enugu State from a predominantly civil service economy to an entrepreneurial hub. He noted that the administration has laid the groundwork for a self-sustaining economy that is less dependent on federal allocations. Drawing comparisons to transformative global leaders from China, Malaysia, and Israel, Ogbu applauded Mbah’s “Tomorrow is Here” philosophy, which he said is driving change without discrimination or political bias.
“We are now one of the three states in the country capable of saying goodbye to federal allocations,” Ogbu stated.
Dr. Chinyere Onyeisi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Innovation and Director of Experiential Learning at the Enugu Smart Green School, also lauded the governor’s efforts in addressing the state’s major educational challenges. She highlighted the drastic reduction in out-of-school children, the recruitment and training of teachers, updated curricula, and the development of modern educational infrastructure.
She noted, “The introduction of the Smart Green Schools has revolutionized basic education in Enugu. With free education, school feeding programs, free books, and uniforms in all 260 wards, the governor has truly prioritized education. The skills being acquired through experiential learning are invaluable.”
Retired Major General Victor Ezeugwu expressed satisfaction with the governor’s commitment to implementing many of the security recommendations proposed by retired officers from Enugu North. He acknowledged Mbah’s pledge to increase stipends for local security operatives, including vigilantes, and called on local government chairmen to take active roles in maintaining security, particularly in areas like Uzo Uwani and Isi Uzo.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chinedu Onuh, Coordinator of the Enugu North Senatorial Zone Branch of the Coalition for Progress, emphasized that the zone has transitioned from electoral politics to a focus on development. He reiterated the collective commitment of Nsukka people to support the governor’s agenda and promote progress in unity.
“This is the era of developmental politics, and we are fully aligned with the governor’s vision,” Onuh affirmed.
