Firstsitenews-The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has directed 3,598 civil servants who failed to participate in the 2021 verification exercise to appear for a fresh re-verification or risk dismissal. The commission warned that failure to attend will be taken as proof that the affected officers are in possession of fake appointment letters.
The re-verification will take place from Monday, August 18, to Thursday, August 28, 2025, across several ministries and government agencies, including the Federal Ministries of Agriculture, Defence, Education, Justice, Works, Information, Science and Technology, Aviation, Finance, Interior, and the State House.
According to a circular dated August 4 and obtained by our correspondent, affected officers must check their names on the FCSC website (www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng), the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation website (www.ohcsf.gov.ng), or on their ministry’s notice board.
Those summoned are to appear with the originals and photocopies of specific documents, including appointment and promotion letters, the gazette of appointment and confirmation, staff change letter, and their July 2025 IPPIS payslip.
The commission stressed strict compliance with the schedule, noting that no further extension would be granted. Officers who fail to show up will be considered as deliberately avoiding detection for holding fake appointment letters.
The highest number of affected officers are in the Ministry of Information (592), Ministry of Education (506), and Ministry of Labour (440). Others include the Ministries of Works (134), Industry and Trade (196), Health (158), Environment (237), Interior (24), Defence (28), and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (36).
The statement added that officers recently verified by the Commission are not required to attend the exercise again.
