The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has confirmed the transfer of ₦10 million to lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor as part of legal support expenses linked to the movement’s activities.
In a public briefing note issued on Friday, Madam Nnennaya Anya, Head of IPOB’s Finance Directorate, stated that the payment was processed on August 13, 2021, and transferred through the lawyer’s office manager, Chinwe Umeche, via the banking system.
According to the briefing, the funds were sent to an account at United Bank for Africa (UBA), with documentation indicating the transaction was part of operational support approved by IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

The financial record cited in the statement reportedly shows the following details:

- Amount Transferred: ₦10,000,000

IPOB explained that the payment formed part of what it described as legitimate operational and legal support expenses authorized during ongoing legal proceedings involving its leadership.

According to Madam Anya, the disclosures are intended to counter misinformation and demonstrate the group’s commitment to financial transparency and accountability in handling funds connected to legal and administrative operations.
The statement emphasized that the briefing was issued “for the avoidance of doubt” and to clarify questions surrounding financial support for legal representation tied to the case of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
