Avoid Political Science, History, and Similar Courses — Odumeje Advises Nigerian Students

Firstsitenews-Controversial Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has advised young Nigerians to steer clear of certain academic disciplines, including political science, history, microbiology, library information science, and sociology, especially if they lack influential political or financial backgrounds.

In a viral video posted on social media platform X on Monday, Odumeje described these courses as “useless,” claiming they offer little value for students from poor families. Known for his theatrical preaching style, the cleric emphasized the importance of studying “meaningful” courses that lead to practical job opportunities.

He said, “If your father has no political or government connections, don’t waste your time studying political science, history, microbiology, or sociology. What will you do with them? These are irrelevant courses for the poor. Even Library Information Science — it’s better you learn barbing than go for that.”

Odumeje argued that education should be a gateway to success and not a path to frustration, stating that many graduates remain jobless because they studied fields with limited practical value.

He added, “Education should be a blessing, not a burden. That’s why we have so many unemployed graduates. Don’t waste four or five years of your life. I’m here to guide you as a prophet.”

This isn’t the first time the flamboyant preacher has made controversial statements. Recently, he declared plans to contest the 2027 presidential election, claiming Nigeria needs a young, digital-savvy leader rather than the “old cargoes” currently in politics.

Though he didn’t specify a political party, Odumeje told his congregation he was preparing to run for office to bring about real progress and modern transformation in Nigeria.

He said, “Past and present leaders have failed us. Nigeria needs a vibrant, visionary leader like me. I’m thinking of coming out for president. Are you ready for me? Odumeje for president! I will bring you a digital life, a modern life. I want to construct a road called Citadel for you.”
