“We Have Moved Backwards” – Falz Criticizes Nigeria’s State Under Tinubu’s Two-Year Leadership

 

Firstsitenews-Nigerian rapper, actor, and social activist, Falz, has once again voiced his concerns over the state of governance in Nigeria, particularly under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a candid interview on Arise 360, the multi-talented entertainer expressed deep disappointment at the direction in which the country is heading.

Falz, known for using his platform to spotlight social and political issues, did not mince words when reflecting on the impact of President Tinubu’s two years in office. According to him, rather than witnessing meaningful development, Nigeria has experienced a regression in critical areas of national life.

“I made that statement about not being sure if I would raise my kids in Nigeria because of the current state of affairs,” Falz explained. “The truth is, and it’s unfortunate to say, we’ve clearly moved backwards. The level of hardship, the insecurity, and the lack of accountability across various sectors of government is alarming. There isn’t much progress to celebrate.”

He further lamented the fact that despite Nigerians' hopes for positive change after previous administrations, the reality has been largely disappointing. The ongoing struggles with inflation, widespread poverty, youth unemployment, and deteriorating public services have left many, especially young people, disillusioned about the country's future.

Falz also touched on the emotional and psychological toll this uncertainty places on his generation, especially when thinking about the next.

 “It's a difficult thing to admit, but it’s hard to see a future here that guarantees safety, prosperity, and dignity. As much as I love Nigeria, I cannot ignore the fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult to envision raising children in a place where basic systems are failing,” he added.

The entertainer’s comments have since sparked widespread conversation on social media, with many Nigerians echoing his sentiments and calling for greater transparency, accountability, and a renewed commitment to national development.

Falz has long been recognized for his fearless commentary on national issues, including during the 2020 #EndSARS movement, where he emerged as one of the leading voices against police brutality and governance failures. His continued activism reflects a growing frustration among Nigerian youth who are demanding better from their leaders.
